Walking Tour, October 5, 2013 – New Toronto: A 19th Century Industrial Suburb. New Toronto was founded as an industrial suburb of Toronto in the 1890s. By the 1930s, it had grown from a village to a town and become an industrial powerhouse. Hear about the growth of this community in south Etobicoke, as we view municipal buildings, an affordable housing project from 1918, the war memorial and other outstanding buildings.
